Job Summary:
The staff accountant will prepare and maintain records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities to ensure regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with the account manager for budgeting and forecasting.
Strong analytical skills are vital for supporting audits, tax filings, and providing financial insights.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
Maintains the general ledger.
Assist and provide supports accounting manager for month-end, quarter-end, year-end closing.
Design and conduct expense and business travel guideline and necessary trainings for employees.
Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Flexibility in role and willingness to contribute beyond traditional accounting responsibilities as the department expands.
Must have SAP experience (implementation is desired).
Knowledge of lease accounting standards and fixed asset accounting is a must.
Excellent communication, team orientation and presentation skills.
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point, etc.
Safety and Quality oriented with a solution-oriented mindset.
Ability to problem solve with planning skills.
Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
At least three (3) years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to: sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time and work on a computer; regularly walk, stand, sit and communicate.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.
