Description: JOB SUMMARY Provides direct and indirect patient care under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse.
Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental health and social needs; comfort and safety measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid need; and elimination needs.
Requirements: JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification indicating successful completion of a Nurse's Aide/Technician training and competency course preferred.
BLS required Minimum Work Experience Knowledge of principles of patient hygiene, comfort, and safety measures.
Previous experience as a patient care provider helpful.

Demonstrates competency and knowledge of age appropriate equipment.
Demonstrates appropriate suction technique using bulb syringe in the infant and toddler patient.
Demonstrates appropriate awareness of suspected abuse/neglect to pediatric patients and takes measures to report them according to protocol.
Identifies and plans for appropriate safety precautions to be taken to prevent injury to the pediatric patient.
Takes vital signs at appropriate sites.
Is familiar with location and use of pediatric emergency equipment.
Age Specific - Adolescent Demonstrates knowledge of adolescent growth and development norms and appropriately addresses abnormal growth.
Identifies and plans for appropriate safety precautions to be taken to prevent injury to the adolescent patient.
Age Specific - Adults Demonstrates knowledge of adult growth and development norms and appropriately addresses abnormal findings.
Identifies and plans for appropriate safety precautions to be taken to prevent injury to the adult patient.
Age Specifics - Geriatrics Demonstrates knowledge of the normal aging process.
Demonstrates competency and knowledge in the identification of sensorium changes.
Essential Functions Assists patients with activities of daily living.
Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
Performs treatment procedures under the direction of the registered nurse, such as application of the therapeutic heat/ice.
Measures temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, height/weight, and intake and output and reports abnormal values to assigned nurse.
Collects specimens of stool, urine, and sputum and transports to lab in a timely manner.
Ability to perform bedside blood glucose monitoring with the Accu-Chek Inform II Assists with care such as position, lifting, and transferring patients with proper body mechanisms and ambulating patients as directed by the assigned nurse.
Transports patients as needed, such as to radiology, surgery, or another nursing unit.
Assists in maintaining a clean and safe environment by leaving patient rooms in order, by reporting equipment that is out of order, and by cleaning equipment as needed.
Answers telephone, call system, and greets visitors professionally, and routes information received to the appropriate personnel.
Contributes it the development of peers, colleague, and others by sharing knowledge and skills, and by providing constructive feedback regarding their practice.
Promotes confidentiality and uses complete discretion when discussing information.
Floats to other areas assigned, responds to floating requests with a positive attitude.
