Description
The Radcliff Veteran Center is a skilled nursing facility that cares for the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Veterans.
Our mission is to Serve Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care.
The Institutional Recreation Leader I position is responsible for organizing therapeutic recreation programs and activities for the residents of the Carl M.
Brashear Radcliff Veterans Center.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Organizing activities such as games, dances, music, sporting events, etc for residents
Keeping daily attendance and progress notes on residents activities
Posting schedules for recreation activities
Instructing volunteers that assist with activities Preferred Skills and Abilities: Strong Interpersonal Skills, Professionalism, Adaptability and Flexibility, Self-Starter, Compassionate
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, special education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in planned recreation, physical education, special education or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.
): NONE
Working Conditions
Typically works in an institutional or hospital facility.
Typically work is of a moderate physical nature and often in an outdoor setting conducting recreational activities usually with hospital patients or inmates.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.
